Description:
Digital image of Hotel Adalbert Brevnov Abbey Prague. Older buildings that once housed workshops and monastic living quarters have been converted for hotel use within the Brevnov Abbey. The atmosphere is serene within the courtyard above the monastic gardens. Brevnov was founded in 933 by St Adalbert. The Abbey was pillaged and burned in the Hussite uprising and the Battle of White Mountain and restored during the Counter Reformation after the Thirty Years War with the architects Krystof Dietzenhofer and his son Kilian. The community was persecuted under Nazis and succeeding communist government. Today it is an active Benedictine community and offers hospitality and lodging for guests.
