Digital image of St George Basilica ws the earliest religious building still extant in Prague. It was founded by Mlada the sister of Boleslav II in 973 as a Benedictine convent where she was the first Abbess. The basilica served as the royal church for coronation ceremonies in the Premyslid dynasty. The church was enlarged upon through the ages and remained active until Emperor Joseph II who closed many religious institutions when it was converted into barracks. The church was renovated after the World War II and is now a museum of Gothic art.
