Pastel colors of soft blues and brown break up the massive facade of the Tuscany palace which serves as the ministry of Foreign Affair Consular Division. The palace was originally built for Michael Osvald Thun in 1689 after a design by Jean Batiste Mathey who also designed the Archbishop's Palace across the square and built by Giacomo Antonio Canavalle between 1689-1891. The name Tuscany Palace is derived from its succeeding owners, the Dukes of Tuscany. The statuary on the roof is by Jan Brokoff and the Archangel in the corner thought to be made by Ottovio Mosto. It stands directly opposite the main gate of the Prague Castle entrance.
